Thanks for visiting the Sumpter Trail Report..... UPDATE....May 4, 2008........ A lot of you have been telling me you either sold your snomowmobiles or you've covered them up and you have your ATV's out and running.... so I suppose that means the season is pretty much done. You die hard snowmobilers will be on your own up high. We'll look forward to seeing you next season! Don't forget that club meetings begin in October! Members: get your 2008/2009 dues in as soon as you can! A snowmobile (or snow scooter, often
referred to by enthusiasts as a \'sled\' and in the Canadian north and Alaska as a \'snowmachine\') is a land vehicle propelled by one or two rubber tracks, or belts, with skis for steering. The earliest snowmobiles were modified Ford Model Ts with the undercarriage replaced with tracks and skis. It was only in 1959 that he invented what we know as the modern snowmobile in its open-cockpit one or two person form, and started selling it as the "Ski-doo". now you know!
