Sumpter Valley Gold Dredge
State Park Heritage Area is home to our famous historic
Gold Dredge, but also boasts 77 acres of State Park with well maintained trails and bridges that take visitors in several directions through beautiful wildlife habitat for breathtaking views of the Sumpter Valley and the Dredge from Spring to Fall. Then comes Winter and with it plenty of snow! The Sumpter Gold Dredge does close for the winter but the State Park Heritage Area remains open! Winter explorers will discover snowmobile trails and snowshoe trails throughout the entire park. For many, winter that means the end of hiking these wonderful trails. Not for snowshoers! Snow transforms the State Park into a Winter Playground and all you need is a pair of snowshoes! Whether you're new to the sport or looking for a challenging yet rewarding winter adventure, then we invite you to join our Snowshoe Club! The Sumpter Snowshoe Club anticipates hiking some great Sumpter snowshoe trails this winter so why not jump on board now? There are no membership requirements or dues to hassle with and...snowshoeing in the Sumpter mountains is always FREE!
