So, if Winter Recreation is your thing, then chances are we have what you need up here in Sumpter! If you've seen Sumpter in the summer, just wait until you see what we look like in the snow! Snowmobiling, Snowshoeing, Nordic Skiing, The Gold Dredge, Cross Country Skiing, Snowboarding, and more.......! Sumpter has access to hundreds of miles of groomed trails in the breathtaking Elkhorn Mountains of Eastern Oregon! You can hit the trails right from your lodging too! And yes folks, there is plenty of lodging available to accommodate your club, or special family getaway! The Sumpter Snowmobile Club maintains and grooms the trails to make sure they are safe and ready for fun! Snowmobiling in Sumpter Oregon
The Sumpter Valley Blue Mountain Snowmobile Club is active in the area all year long. Many local members volunteer countless hours of time to prepare and access to snowmobile trails at the Depot Inn maintain the snowmobile trails throughout our area-winter and summer...... The Club has a Sno Cat Groomer thanks to the OSSA and it is kept busy all winter making the trails safer and more fun! Visit our Snowmobile Trail Report for local updates on trail conditions, weather, and other information all winter! A lot of the information is contributed by snowmobile riders! Club Members are very active all winter with meetings, potluck dinners, and lots of fun all leading up to the Annual Poker Run which is held on Presidents' Day Weekend each year. The Poker Run draws snowmobilers from all over Eastern Oregon and the Northwest! You don't even need a snowmobile to get in on the action! On New Years Eve the club puts on a bonfire, hot dog feed, and a night ride all to usher in the New Year-Sumpter Style! Meetings normally start in October and run through the final meeting of the snowmobile season in April. We encourage you to book your lodging early........

The Sumpter Valley DredgeSumpter Valley Dredge and Mt. Ireland 2010 is closed in the winter but the State Heritage Area surrounding the dredge is open year round! See the Historic Dredge on your snowmobile, skiis, or snowshoes all Winter! Take in breathtaking winter landscapes around the Dredge and in the State Park! Several park trails take off in different directions from the Sumpter Gold Dredge for snowshoers, hikers and cross-country skiers ~ and of course ~ snowmobilers! The State Park offers a unique adventure through the historic dredge pilings during the Winter which is home to local wildlife including beaver, muskrat and deer. The Dredge ponds are frozen in the winter providing some beautiful landscapes you won't see in the summer!
