The Sumpter Valley Blue Mountain Snowmobile Clubis very active in the Sumpter area all year long ~ Many local members volunteer countless hours of time to prepare and maintain the snowmobile trails throughout our area-winter and summer...... The Club has a Sno Cat Groomer thanks to the OSSA and it is kept busy all winter making the trails safer and more fun! Visit our Snowmobile Trail Report for local updates on trail conditions, weather, and other information regarding Sumpter Snowmobile Trails all winter! A lot of the information is contributed by snowmobile riders.....! Club Members are very active all winter with meetings, potluck dinners, and lots of fun ~ all leading up to the Annual Poker Run which is held on Presidents' Day Weekend each year. The Poker Run draws snowmobilers from all over the Northwest as well as Eastern Oregon! You don't even need a snowmobile to get in on the action! On New Years Eve the club puts on a bonfire, hot dog feed, and a night ride all to usher in the New Year-Sumpter Style! The Snowmobile Club meetings normally start in October and run through the final meeting of the season in April........If you're planning to visit Sumpter this Winter, be sure to make your lodging reservations now! is closed in the winter to indoor visitors.... but the State Heritage Area surrounding the dredge is open year round! See the Historic Dredge on your snowmobile, skiis, or snowshoes all Winter! Take in breathtaking winter landscapes around the Dredge and in the State Park! Several park trails take off in different directions from the Sumpter Gold Dredge for snowshoers, hikers and cross-country skiers ~ and of course ~ snowmobilers! The State Park offers a unique adventure through the historic dredge pilings during the Winter which is home to local wildlife including beaver, muskrat and deer.....The Dredge ponds throughout the park are usually frozen in the winter providing some beautiful scenic landscapes you won't see in the summer! The Sumpter Gold Dredge looks different in the snow!
