| Sumpter Valley Dredge State Park Winter Photos! The Gold Dredge settles down to sleep each winter under layers of snow making for great winter views of this historic monument! As visitors stand on snowshoes, ride by on snowmobiles, they see the Sumpter Dredge in a whole new way then previously seen in the summer season. Thoughts come to mind of what life might have been like for the Dredge Workers who did not stop working despite the bitter cold and snow. The Dredge itself is closed to onboard visitors in the Winter but the park remains open to winter adventurers who enjoy hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and of course snowmobiling through the park to visit the Dredge.
